From the west:
The west motorway (A1)
ends in Auhof (suburb of Vienna). Follow the B1 onto Hietzinger
Kai, then continue straight ahead along Schönbrunner
Schlossstrasse; this then merges with Schönbrunner Strasse. Then
keep going straight as far as the crossroads with the city ring
road (known as and signposted as the "Gürtel"). Turn off left
onto the Margaretengürtel, then follow the ring road until you
come to the Volksoper [Opera House] (Währinger Gürtel) and there
turn right into Währinger Strasse. The Hotel Bleckmann is on the
right-hand side after the 2nd set of traffic lights.
From the south:
From the A2, turn off
onto Triester Strasse and follow it all the way as far as the
Matzleinsdorferplatz/Gürtel crossroads; here turn off left onto
the Margaretengürtel, then follow the ring road until you come
to the Volksoper [Opera House] (Währinger Gürtel) and there turn
right into Währinger Strasse. The Hotel Bleckmann is on the
right-hand side after the 2nd set of traffic lights.
From the north:
Leave the A22 at the
Nordbrücke exit. Follow the Donaukanal [Danube Canal] towards
the town centre (= downstream) and drive along Heiligenstädter
and Nußdorfer Lände as far as the crossroads with the
Friedensbrücke/Alserbachstrasse. Turn off right here and follow
the Nussdorferstrasse. At the next set of traffic lights (Aida
pastry shop on the corner), turn left into Währinger Strasse.
The Hotel Bleckmann is on the right-hand side after the next
traffic lights.
From the east:
Coming along the A4,
follow Schüttelstrasse towards the city centre. Keep straight
ahead along
the same street, even though it changes names
several times, until you come to Brigittenauer Lände.
Before
you get to the Friedensbrücke bridge, get on the left-hand lane
and cross the Donaukanal [Danube Canal]
on the
Friedensbrücke bridge. Continue straight ahead along
Alserbachstrasse, following the street until
it becomes
Nussdorferstrasse. At the next set of traffic lights (Aida
pastry shop on the corner), turn left
into Währinger Strasse.
The Hotel Bleckmann is on the right-hand side after the next
traffic lights.
GETTING HERE BY TRAIN
From the west and south:
Take the Underground
line 6 as far as Währinger Strasse / Volksoper, tram lines 40 or
41 - 43. The tram stop you want when travelling towards the town
centre is "Schwarzspanierstrasse".
From the east:
Take tram line "D" as
far as Schottentor, from there it is one stop with tram lines
37, 38, 40, 41 or 42 ("Schwarzspanierstraße").
GETTING HERE BY PLANE
Vienna Airport Lines (Bus)
As far as Schwedenplatz
and after that with tram line 1 towards Stefan-Fadinger Platz as
far as the Schottentor stop; from there one stop with tram lines
37, 38, 40, 41 or 42 ("Schwarzspanierstraße").
The bus ticket costs €
6.00 + € 1.80 for a single ticket on Vienna public transport.
CAT – City Airport Train (16 minutes into town)
Take the CAT as far as
Landstrasse/Vienna Mitte, change to Underground line U4 in the
direction of Heiligenstadt. Get off at Schottenring, cross over
to the other side of the platform and travel one stop with line
U2 towards Karlsplatz (get off at Schottentor/Universität). From
there it is one stop with tram lines 37, 38, 40, 41 or 42 ("Schwarzspanierstraße").
The CAT ticket costs €
9.00 + € 2.00 for a single ticket on Vienna public transport.
